Del Cerro San Diego Landscape – Before

Extremely overgrown and past its prime, this Del Cerro San Diego home was landscaped with dated junipers that had to be totally demolished to make way for an overhaul to accent the mid-century details of this Del Cerro home. The owner’s goal of outdoor living in San Diego also included the addition of a new front walk of poured in place concrete rectangles — for more interest.

What We Added to Enhance this Del Cerro Landscape

Adding in small areas of lawn gave the space a more inviting feel. More timely plants such as Kangaroo Paws and ornamental grasses were employed in the design to add color and softness. Fortunately, a few Mediterranean Fan Palms were worth keeping as accents in the landscape. It can be vital to save some existing plants to create a more established look to a brand new landscape.

Landscape in Del Cerro San Diego – After

Updating the pool in the backyard offered a sense of ease and renewal to this neglected Del Cerro San Diego landscape. A new spa was incorporated into the shell of the existing pool. Adding new coping and tile nearly made the pool look like it had recently been built. New fencing and taller plants on the perimeter offered greater privacy for the family to enjoy the area without neighbors looking in. This Del Cerro San Diego backyard design also highlighted similar plant materials from the front to offer a stronger sense of continuity a major factor of design.
